PILCH is a leading not-for-profit organisation in the pro bono legal assistance sector. It is committed to furthering the public interest, improving access to justice and protecting human rights by facilitating the provision of pro bono legal services and undertaking law reform, policy work and legal education.
An exciting opportunity exists to join this highly regarded organisation as the first full-time Director. Reporting to the Board, you will be responsible for leading the strategic direction of PILCH by maintaining and enhancing the position of the organisation at the forefront of pro bono and public interest legal services in Australia. Key responsibilities include: developing strong relationships with stakeholders, developing innovative pro bono projects, managing according to the highest standards of corporate governance, including high level HR and financial accountability.
You will be an original and innovative thinker, highly motivated and dynamic, and committed to PILCH’s focus and values. You will be eligible to hold an unrestricted legal practising certificate and have an excellent understanding of the legal profession, the access to justice sector, and the pro bono sector in NSW and Australia.

Part-time Executive Secretary of NSW Council for Civil Liberties
NSW Council for Civil Liberties is seeking applicants for the position of Executive Secretary for the NSW Council for Civil Liberties. It is a part-time paid position working with an excellent team of volunteers. Energetic organisation at forefront of human rights debate seeks enthusiastic, self-motivated person with exceptional organisational skills to provide part-time support to Executive.

- Hourly rate: $22 - $26 dependent on experience
- Position qualifies for superannuation, annual and sick leave entitlements
The position requires:
- Proactive “can do” attitude
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft office skills
- Strong multi-tasking and organisational abilities
- Effective complaint handling and referral
- Ability to prioritise
- Excellent problem-solving and research skills
- Demonstrated ability to prepare meeting papers and follow up action lists
- Proven ability to provide team support
- Efficient maintenance of databases showing respect for confidentiality
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Experience in drafting and accurately proofing correspondence
- High level of interpersonal and oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated understanding of civil liberties issues
Experience with MYOB data entry and accounts reconciliation is an asset as is experience in writing grant applications and updating websites using dreamweaver software.
