The Canberra Screening of the ALHR movie fundraiser "Lucky Miles" is as follows:

6.00pm for 6.30pm start

Tickets are $20 each.  Light refreshments will commence at 6.00pm with short presentations and the movie starting at 6.30pm. 

The presentations will be by:

• Dr Pene Mathew - who is the Human Rights Legal and Policy Adviser for the ACT Human Rights Commission and Associate Professor at the ANU College of Law. She has been active on refugee issues as an academic and activist since the 1990s, and will provide an insight into what has changed in the refugee law landscape since the events depicted in 'Lucky Miles'.
• Rick Towle - who is the UNHCR Regional Representative for Australia, NZ, PNG and the Pacific.   He has been a member of the Refugee Status Appeals Authority in NZ and has had a long career of refugee work. He will propose a toast to World Refugee Day.

ALHR has resolved to use the funds raised from the Canberra Screening for the purpose of developing and delivering ALHR’s human rights training .

HOW TO PURCHASE TICKETS

1. Pre-pay for tickets

We ask that all guests pre-purchase their tickets to the screening.  We cannot guarantee that tickets will still be available for sale close to the night or on the night.  We will refund any one who purchases a ticket after they have all sold out.

Please pay by internet funds transfer.  Go to you bank's website, go into your account (you will need internet banking access attached to your account) and select "New Funds Transfer" or equivalent.  Enter, next to each heading on your funds transfer page, the following details:

If you wish to pay by cheque or money order, please e-mail the ACT Convenor to arrange for it to be delivered to the relevant person.

2. Send confirmation to ALHR

Following your payment, please send confirmation by e-mail to the ACT Convenor in the following form (please copy and paste the below into the e-mail and complete the details):

"I confirm that I have just transferred money to ALHR for the purchase of tickets to the screening of ALHR's movie fundraiser, "Lucky Miles", at the Dendy Cinema, Canberra Centre on Monday, 18 June 2007.

I purchased: [insert number of tickets purchased] tickets.

The remitter name I provided in the internet funds transfer was: [insert the remitter name you gave in the internet transfer]

I [do/do not] require a receipt to be available for collection at the door at the conclusion of the movie."

3. Await acknowledgment from ALHR

You should receive an acknowledgement to your e-mail confirmation from ALHR by reply e-mail, confirming receipt of your payment and the purchase of tickets.  If you have not received an acknowledgement within 3 business days, please send a further e-mail to the ACT Convenor.
